Clearing of classroom and DSA/DPA

Hi all

1. Clearing of classroom

If you have not already done so, please ensure that you clear the classroom (esp on the shelves and inside the cupboards) and lockers of all notes, file and textbooks on Monday.

You should have all your learning materials at home in preparation for the Common Tests.

2. DSA/DPA

A Googleform has been sent out for you to indicate your preference in applying for DSA - JC and DPA. If you have intention of applying, please ensure you complete the form by 2 May, 5.00 pm.

1. 2013 Chemistry Common Test
Complete both papers 1 and 2 by tomorrow. I will not accept more than 10 marks worth of blanks.
As long as one person has not completed or left more than 10 marks blank, I will not do anything for the three periods tomorrow.
I have personally done the paper myself. It is definitely do-able (with the help of notes and textbook).
Please post this in the class whatsapp group. I do not want to hear people saying they do not know about this. Anyway, It was clearly stated that this paper was to be done by Tues.

2. Speed of reaction practical
I will collect this tomorrow.

3. Assignment for petroleum, alkanes and alkenes
I will go through this tomorrow.

CE plan for 7 and 11 April

Here are the details:

7 April (Monday)

S3 & S4 : Talk by NP on Poly Admission

2.00 to 2.30 pm - Talk on poly admissions and Ngee Ann's offerings (courses, scholarships, talent development programmes, etc).  The speaker is Mr Tan Jui Kuan, Polytechnic Education Advisor cum Lecturer

2.30 - 2.50 pm - Talk on Engineering Science, Ngee Ann Poly's premium engineering course.  The speaker is Dr Li Zhongqiang, Lecturer from the School of Engineering.  He is also the Course Manager of the diploma in Engineering Science course.

Assembly Performance - Talking Body Language 
A Theatre performance by Roger Jenkins
Venue: MPH 

Brief on the Performance - Talking Body Language
A highly entertaining one-man show by Roger Jenkins and more than a dozen of his beautiful and highly expressive wooden masks. With more than 170 performances in schools since its debut in the 1996 Arts Education Programme, this show vividly succeeds in showing students how the way they present themselves plays an important part in how people (eg future employers, colleagues!) will respond to them. 

Our attitudes, our demeanour, our behaviour are all critical factors in contributing to our success and happiness. 

Alongside the masks, Mr Jenkins incorporates stories designed to reinforce the message that this could happen to the audience – that they do have control over how they interact with people and how they can influence the way people react with them. 

At the end of the performance, students will understand:
a) The power of masks - how they exaggerate certain features and communicate a character or an attitude.
b) That we all wear 'masks' in everyday life in the different roles we play - as students, siblings, sons and daughters, neighbours.
